"What a delightful surprise! I booked over the phone and was sent an access code to enter room. The room looked liked it had been remodeled. Nothing fancy, but very comfortable and clean. Fridge, microwave, toaster oven and coffee pot! Would stay again."

"We loved our stay at the Tar Heel Motel! Very easy check in, and steps from the beach! Very close to great restaurants too. The best part was our dog was able to come for a low fee! We really hope to have an opportunity to come back! "

"I stayed at the Tar Heel Motel on September 1-4th for my nieces wedding. Check in was super easy! The morning of my arrival I received an email with my room number and code to the door as well as other information about the motel and surrounding area. When I arrived, I was able to literally park right outside my door which was wonderful for unloading my car. Each room is a different name and theme. My room was the Striped Bass. I called the desk for towels each day and they delivered quickly. They had a pool that was open, a grill that can be used, and a corn hole set. The corn hole set was used the whole time by my kids. The entrance to the beach was a very short walk across the road. This motel is located on a main road so there was everything accessible from restaurants to entertainment. I can not wait to stay here again, and try another room. This was the perfect get away."

"I LOVE this motel - probably built in 50’s & very recently renovated. The room I’ve stayed in on two diff trips was so clean & comfortable. It felt like a little Air B&B. They send you a room code so you can by pass the office, park right in front of your room like an old ‘motor court’. Very family friendly."

"Down home feeling of old time 1950s roadside motel. Very clean, staff wonderfully friendly, and helpful. Plus a nice pool. Just a short. Walk across the street to the beach."

"We planned an overnight stay in OBX and my wife happened upon this little place. It was perfect for our needs, close to the beach, and the cutest little room ever!! Easy check-in, no keys or cards to mess with as the lock is a digital keypad on the door. There were outdoor grills available for use and a small picnic area. We hope to return one day and utilize all the potential available."
